October-Pink Month

Pink ribbons are everywhere as October is in full swing. It is the time of the year when Breast Cancer Awareness has been taken place to raise public awareness about the importance of the disease, which is the most common cause of cancer death in women and the fifth most common cause of cancer death overall. According to the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), there were more than 2 million new cases and almost 685.000 deaths from breast cancer worldwide in 2020 ⁽¹⁾.

Every year in October, millions of people take this opportunity to spread care, kindness, and support to the women in their life. As Finveo, we are very proud to state that we decided to take part in this global action to support and empower women in every day from every angle, having in mind that more than 60% of our employees are women. As part of the Awareness Month, we wanted to support our employees by paying attention to the most important thing – health. In this regard, Finveo organized a check-up examination on Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd of October for all of its women employees.

This activity is just one example of how taking good care of women should be. IARC estimates that by 2040 the incidence of breast cancer will increase by more than one third, to more than 3 million new cases per year ⁽¹⁾. As much as we are proud to be a part of this international project during October, we are also aware that breast cancer is a topic worth to be highlighted for a whole year. Thus, we will continue to remind about the importance of having regular medical examination to lower the risk.
